I was wondering if anyone has had success keeping a pike in a heavily planted tank before.

I'm looking for a larger fish that will not destroy plants like jungle val and some stems. Preferably an odd ball, not really looking for angels or the sort.

Any ideas?

Burmese archerfish? They have been known to get to 25cm, which is a pretty good size.

Pikes are primarily carnivores, but any large cichlid can uproot plants.

I should add that most stem plants that can be fastened to rocks and wood would most likely be safe. Root plants can be dug up though.

Are you looking for something geographically correct or not, if so what area?
One sort of largish non-common new world fish I have been able to keep with vallisneria, is the Goby Eleotris picta.

One caveat (not unlike belly crawler pikes), these are fish that don't spend a lot of time in the open.
I have kept belly crawlers, but not in "planted tanks" , so don't know if they'd uproot them or not.
