I've had a Crenicichla Sp. "Belly Crawler" for almost a year now, and it has grown from 4" to the overwhelming size of 4". I've read that they get bigger than this in more than a few places. Could he still be growing, or did I get a runt? Filtration, feeding, tank size, and everything are all fine. Trust me, I know what I'm doing. He's perfectly healthy and I've had no problems with him. I'm just curious if anyone's ever had one that stayed so small.

I think it's entirely possible that he's still growing. Or yeah he could be a runt. Most Belly Crawlers reach at least 6". You may want to try powerfeeding him for a while and see what you get.

isn't a huge growing species...if the fish is otherwise healthy there is nothing to worry about

What temp do you keep it at? And how often do you feed live fish?
