Females look just like the males most of the time. However, when they are in breeding mode they develop a scarlet red stripe along the dorsal fin where it meets the back. They also develop a scarlet red stripe along the belly.

They are still pretty attractive pikes with tons of personality. Although the atrophed swimbladder does limit their mobility around the tank...lol
