I have a clown loach itch and was wondering if I'd have problems keeping them with a bellycrawler since they're both of similar shape and inhabit the same part of the tank. The bellycrawler is 8-9" and the tank is 72x30x25.

Shouldn't have any problems. Bellycrawlers are usually very docile, however if the pike outgrows the loach, you may have a missing fish.

I agree, if the clown is as large, or larger than the pike, there shouldn't be a problem.
Although if the clown is small enough to temp a feeding response from the pike, there could be trouble for both. The barb the clown carries can be very dangerous to predators that try to swallow it.

The bellycrawler is 8-9" and I have never seen it instigate anything but is very quick to defend himself. Maybe I'll give it a try if I find some clown loaches in the 3-4" range for a decent price.
