Is any1 familiar with the water parasite "Nemetodes"?
It begins as beneficial bacteria created through fish waste but due 2 such things as over stocking, over feeding and a poorly filtered tank, these little critters can bloom and wreak havoq on your precious set-up.
Imfomouse in cichlid tanks and the number 1 cause of Fin rot, Ich and many other bacteria related diseases.
IF U CAN SEE SMALL WORMS IN YOUR WATER, YOUR IN TROUBLE!!!

If any1 could correct me or continue in the subject please feel free...

ps I also run a C/a S/a Cichlid set up and have had problems with in the past.
just curious if any1 else has had the pleasure???

i have had little worms in my jaguar cichlids tank. they went away with quick cure. clout didnt work, neither did melafix (although i didnt expect that to do much). they were about 3mm long and about as thick as a hair, are these them?

They are planeria a nemotode not bacteria and they are perfectly normal in aquaria.Usually living in the substrate etaing uneaten foods.A bloom of these is usually due to poor housekeeping and /or overfeeding.Vacuum the substrate and reduce the amonut of food offered. They are not generaly harmful -Anne

Bacteria arent going to turm into anything else in your tank evolution takes a long time.If there are worms or planaria in your tank they got there with something you put in there.
