Benefit of hard plumbing in your filters

Are there any benefits of hard plumbing in your filters? I've seen a bunch of photos on here of people who've done this and wonder why for some of it.
 
More durable. Probably more flow (straightens water column in between transitions in direction.
 
you dont want hard plumbing all the way to the filter, just out of the tank then to a small hose to the filter so you can take the lid off

Makes water flow ALOT better and its much more hardy... avoid the fear of pipes slippin out of tank etc, its also great of you have an overflow

Deffo Recomended if you're planning on keeping the tank in situ with everything the same

not so good if you're going to upgrade filter in near future (may need dif size piping)
