I just picked up an ornatipinnis with a bent spine from the pet store. The fish seems to have been eating fine in the past since it's not skinny. The back half of the fish bends up at a 45% angle. Is there anything I can do to help or correct this?

Is anyone familiar with this condition or what causes it?

Genetic deformity or injury. There's nothing you can do about it unfortunately.

Another possibility is scoliosis.

I've seen bent spines on other fish that was caused by lack of vitamin C/ a certain amino acid, resulting in scoliosis.
It was related to sick fish not eating for a while.
Once the fish recovered from the disease, they continued acting like normal healthy fish, except for being slower because of the bend.

Other causes of scoliosis in fish include trauma and poisoning.

It is said that there is nothing one can do about scoliosis, but to me it seemed like over time and with growth, the degree decreased. I'm not sure if this would apply in other cases though. That's just my own experiences.
