best 24" flouresent bulb??

whats the best bulb for plants... ( i have a 55 gallon).... i got one fixture with 2x 24" bulbs... I'm looking to enhance my plant growth as much as possible...

Read the stickies on WPG, that will teach you a lot about lighting. 6500-6700K is optimum for plant growth, but anything from 5000K-10,000K will work. What type of fixture do you have, as fluorescent bulbs come in many different types (NO T5, HO T5, T6, T8, T10, T12, CF).

how do I kno what type of fixture i have ( this is the main problem I'm been having...) I've read thew stickies and i guess the question was which is the best bulb in your opinion company wise......

The best bulb isn't by company, but by type. HO T5 is by far the best of the fluorescent bulbs commonly available for planted tanks. HO T8 is even better, but isn't going to be available for quite a while.
