What is the best adhesive silicone for attaching glass center braces for a 180 gallon aquarium? My 180 has a cracked top frame, and I can't find a new one, so I'm making replacement center braces out of glass.

I referb a lot of old tanks. I just use regular clear silicone, no mold inhibitors or other additives. Always held up well

For braces and sumps regular GE 1 silicone is acceptable. Its available just about everywhere. Its pretty standard.

If you were doing something bigger then there a few better options then the classic GE1.

This stuff

There is also a company that makes braces for tanks. I have one on my 150. Metal welded brace that is powder coated to prevent rusting.

The best is SCS1200. Almost any clear 100% silicone with no mild inhibitors or additives will be fine.

I don't trust non-adhesive silicone on structural pieces like center braces on a tank this large, so I'll probably order some SCS1200. That was the silicone I was thinking of, I just can't remember the name of it.

I've built several large tanks with dow corning 732 silicone and PR1200 primer. this stuff is seriously strong. makes ge1 look like a glue stick. I will never build a tank with anything else.
