Best advice on how to change water from a fish tank?

Noob here: so i assume that u take fish out into bags again? drain water put new water in wait 1 hour and put them back in? or maybe can u drain them into a big barrel and shove the fish in replace water then put fish back in? how would u do this for best result or can u drain water leave fish in the tank put fresh water back in and it'll b ok? cuz i thought fish had to slowly get used to water temp...

Advice would b greatly appreciated

You leave the fish in the tank when doing a water change. Get a hose or a gravel vacuum and siphon off the water. Add dechlorinator with the new water. Here is a short video on using a gravel vacuum: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjGs09VhVec&feature=related

Only do a 50% water change not, all of it.

Never drain off all your water because you lose good bacterias and it shocks your pets.

I personally have a 10 gallon tank and i just use a small black rubber tube to siphon the water into either 2 liter bottles or a gallon bucket. I never drain of all the water, and when you replace water MAKE SURE YOU MATCH THE TEMPERATURE to that of your aquarium, or you may shock your fish.
