Best Algae Eaters?

commons always suck up algae pretty good. i have a royal that does a good job as well. pretty much any pleco you can find are good algae eaters.

I have to disagree with the post that says pretty much any pleco will eat algae and clean the tank. There are carnivorous plecos omnivore and herbivores. If you want an algae eating pleco consider the ancistrus family. The albino bushnoses are pretty atractive and they stay small.

speaking for myself only, i've had more then good luck with the bristle nose/bushy nosed plecos, they dont generally grow to giants and are good with most fish from what ive seen and love to eat algae. i have a 55 the had a horrible algae problem and i bought 4 juvy albinos @ 1 1/2" and within 2 days it was spotless. ive also got two brown adults that are no bigger then 6" in my 125 and its spotless as well...

Common plecos and bristle nose have been great algae eaters in my tanks just depends what size you want

I spoil mine with veggies. Mine barely touch algea. I've never had any issues with algea though. Bn's or commons depending on tank size. Id stay away from rubberlips or clowns, even when I first got them they never touched any algea. Or you could get otto's or my personal favorite a shoal pygmi coris...not pleco's but will both get the job done
