I have brown algae (nitrates are 5 ppm, I got plants) and no matter what i do it keeps growing... it's not out of control but I just don't like the look of it, especially on the glass right above the substrate. I have a brush but it leaves some algae residue on the glass, and everytime I use the magnet I end up scratching the glass cuz sand gets trapped in between.
I used to have Chinese algae eaters and they did an outstanding job, best algae eating fish I've ever had, they even cleaned the rocks... but they got too aggressive and were attacking my cichlids.
A friend recommended Otocinclus catfish but my salvini ate them... lol. So what are my alternatives? I saw some rubberlip and bristlenose pleco but last time I tried a "common" pleco it spent all day pooping and eating driftwood
