who knows
is there anything special with regular aquarium sand or could i just get a big bag from home depot? im new to sand i have always had gravel but i think sand has a more natural look and want to give it a shot.

bump.

you can try the home depot sand but just make sure that you give it a really good cleaning before putting it in. I prefer the bigger rocks for the bottom bc i find sand makes it harder to siphon the bottom, i find it holds the waste more.

i was just wondering cause aqaurium sand is like 20 bucks a bag!

Pool filter sand.. $10 for a 50 lb bag. I've used sand from home depot and it destroyed my filters. I would strongly suggest against it.

where can i get pool filter sand?

sorry repeat

You can get it at your local pool supply store. Do not buy Pool Filter Sand from Home Depot. It'll be around $25 for a 50 pound bag. At my local pool supply store, it's $8 per 50 pound bag.

I just bought some pool filter sand yesterday, and it was $10 a bag. The bag is 50 lbs, I also plan to change all my tanks to sand. I have heard of things going bad and I have heard good things so I guess we shall wait and see. :naughty:
