Best Ballast placement...

I've seen some differnt methods but wouldn't the best place be outside of the Hood? Like Attached to the back of the Hoods framing?

There has to be someone that can give me some sound advice....

I would keep mine as far way from the humidity as possible lost 2 fixtures that where 16" above the tank with glass tops on the tank to humidity.

But keep in mind ballast have to support remote mounting and if they do have a limit in feet.

I am building 2 fixtures and plan to build an water tight compartment for my ballast.

I've installed 2 8' fixtures end to end with 1 ballast(per the engineer) so I don't think your 2 extra feet shouldn't be an issue.

2 feet? no it wouldn't matter for something that small I was more talking about remote mounting which is typically <= 20'. If you wanted to keep it as far way from the water as possible.

Got it, so I would be okay with mouinting it on a back leg of my Stand then?

They get warm but not too bad, nothing like the old magnetic ones.
