Just got a sump and am pretty new to these things. Right now it currently has a bag with some white bio material and some carbon. My question is which is the best bio material to throw in a sump, Biomax, scrubbies or bio balls? Also, should I try to fill it up with as much bio that it can hold?

What ever is cheapest. And the amount you need differs between designs. If it has a drip tray, keep the media down a few inches from it. If its a wet sump pack it full.

How big a tank are you filtering with it? What is the bio load of the tank? How big is the sump? Any pics? Or measurements at least?
