Best Biomedia for HOB Filters?

I'm using mostly Seachem Matrix in my two AC110's, but recently found out they have best performance when used in canister filters.

Was wondering what you guys use in your HOB's. Any recommendations for biomedia that has max surfacsurface area for biological growth and filtration?

I run all my AC110s with double sponges. Tanks have been running that way for years.

I got 2 AC 110s on my 125g and pack both with as much biomax as I can on top of the sponge... keeps my nitrates between 5-10ppm. Also use biomax in all my biowheel 350s
