I am trying to plan ahead for a very large fish tank purchase and would like to know which tanks people feel are most reliable and well-built. I want a tank somewhere in the 240+ range, so there will be a lot of water potentially falling on my floor, and I want to get a good tank to prevent this from happening. I know there is still a risk, but I think it would be best to prevent this from happening at all. So, what do you think, which brands are best and what are the benefits/disadvantages of each. Oceanic? Tenecor? All-Glass? Whatever...

a few respected names-
all glass
AGA
marineland
Oceanic...
If you are worried about craftsmanship on a tank you just purchased, buy a tube of silicone and lay another bead on all the seams, inside and out... just for the sense of security. Plus, Any ]V[onsterfishkeeper should have a tube of silicone on hand, just incase...

:iagree:.....BTW your avatar is hilarious.

don't go glass cages, i here horror stories alot about big tanks just breaking of theres because there cheaply built, i would chose something more expensive but more quality, tenecor or all glass are good choices.

anyone ever had a problem w/ their glasscage tank? not your cousin/mom/dogs uncles friend/etc. i got mine and have been quite pleased but here all the time someone knows someone bla bla bla.

Oceanic is where it is IMO. My 150G and 100G are both Oceanics and they are just to me noticeably more well constructed than any of my other tanks. My 75G is an All-Glass and its doing very well to. My other tanks are various miss matched brands floating between Perfecto and All-Glass. My GF has a Perfecto 90G and its held up very well tho.

My syno. eup. tank is Tenecor and it's been setup...I dunno... ten+ yrs?...So I'd trust this brand.
My fifty five gal may be twenty yrs old...But I don't know the brand name off hand. Got it used.

I have a 35G which Im going to be setting up that is also over 20 years old Ive had it for over 10...and I got it used and the lady said she had had it for atleast 10-12 years then. Id also love to know the brand so I could invest more into them :)
