Right now I have the 10k/actinic. I was wonder if the dual daylight bulbs would be better 6700k/10k. Any suggestions? I will be going to a black back round aswell

Which species of Cichla? If you have a kelberi, ocel or mono you want to enhance the reds, oranges and yellows. If you have an orino or piquiti you would want to go for the blues and greens. Different bulbs enhance different colors.

I'd probably just use a full spectrum bulb with a high kelvin rating (blues/greens) in conjunction with a Hagen PowerGlo or Penplax Aquarilux (reds, oranges & yellows).

I dont really know alot about different bulbs but i use ge 6700K daylight bulbs on my tank and it really brings out the blue in my orinos fins.

A 10K would bring out the blue and green even more. The problem you run into is that the red end of the spectrum loses its intensity at these high kelvin ratings. That's why adding in a red spectrum specific bulb helps.
