this thursday i'm picking up a 30gal oxygen tank that's been converted to a co2 tank for $50 prety good deal and i want to get my lighting right for the tank. i have a grass that will carpet my tank if i'm not mistaknig they like alot of light so which would be best?
*50/50
*full-spectrum
*actinic
*ho/vho
tank size: 20 gal high
occupants:
2 tetras
1 upside down catfish.

i'm not going to have it on full blast this is my first planted tank...and if all goes well then my 55gal will be planted and then i'll still have a large enough co2 to last me a while... i'm thinking two steps ahead going semi big on co2 bottle not sure if you can get a better deal than that it cost a Whopping $6 to fill the thing and it'll last me a year prob. possibly more. it will be hidden so you'll never see it. i still need to know which light promotes the best plant growth..:D

If you want a high-light setup, I'd run a dual 24" HO T5 fixture. Actinic will do nothing for plant growth, and 50/50 is half actinic.

my tank lights are18" but dual 18" HO would work fine too.:D
first problem solved. not to build my canopy...ya:headbang2

20G tall tanks are 24" long.
the hood for an 18" fixture fits very nicely any thing bigger would be going off the sides.

A 24" HO T5 fixture is designed to fit on top of tanks that are 24" long. I know because I use them on 24" tanks. 20G Tall tanks are 24", the long versions are 30".

I'll go home today and measure it just to make sure.
