What is the best substrate for cichla that really brings out their colors? Black or white sand?
if it helps i have:
-18'' temensis
-14'' rio meta orino
-12'' brokopondo

^^^^the tile on your tank looks stunning! I have ran a bare bottom tank for years. super easy maintanance. But i needed a change and used some sand from my local lake. I didnt cover the whole bottom and my powerhead and pumps push it around and keep it fresh.

Thanks bro. Yah I had sand. For me it comes down to easy fish keeping lol don't have to worry bout cleaning the sand or filters sucking up sand and ruining impellers and stuff. Plus, although fish have no problem getting sand from their gills when eating, I think it makes their lives easier too since they don't get sand in their gills if eating off the floor.
