I'm thinking of starting a payara/atf tank..... Tank is 240 gallons 8 feet long..... What species of payara and std would you guys keep ?..... Anything but a gaft and they Wil be housed with a 8-9 inch male motoro

Raphs are definitely out..... I moved mine from a 300 to a 6x8 pond cause they need so much room to eat with their backflips.
8-9" ray is going to snack on any small Characins. Sounds like you might be best off with a grow out tank for your teeth then once big enough try to add the ray, or add them to the bigger tank.

Just be very carefull of the growth rates. ATF grow very slow and Armies grow super fast. I've had Armatus with ATF before but I made sure the ATF were a good 3-4 inches bigger than the payaras before I mixed them.
Fatf and tats do seem to be my best bet ... considering i most likely wont be able to upgrade ... still asking questions and opinions to figure out the best fit for me.... how many tats and how many fatf with 1 motoro in a 210.....7x2x2?
