So I have a planned 55g that will house 2 convicts and a GT. I am wondering what the best dither fish for them would be. They are all about 3" and I am trying to maintain a semblance of a CA/SA biotope.

Any suggestions? Do I even need dithers? The cons and GT are currently in a community 29g awaiting the setup of the 55g so I am not sure how they will behave without other active fish.

Thanks!

filament barbs..I use them and they are awesome. So much better than I originally thought. bright, active, school really well together.

I wouldn't say you'll need them, but it'll make a nicly balanced tank if you use them. I have stated in other threads I've started using white sail fin mollys. I have two males and six females and they look great against my blackground. As livebearers they also produce a good supply of feeders, so far it's working out as planned. I'll post a pic I'm not sure if they'll show up but hopfully you can get the idea.

I would reccomend rummynose tetras. There really fast and beautiful fish

LOL i tried them with my juvi Sevs (20 of them) and they all got eaten inside a week.

Thanks for all the advice. I think I might go with the livebearers since I like the idea of having a constant source of healthy feeders. I had platys awhile back and they were great active fish but they bred constantly.

Do large fish like cons and GTs eat small fry or do they wait until they get bigger?

The babys don't last very long once they're noticed.
