what fish should i breed?
i currently have a few cons but i read that they are very aggressive with each other and that you need grow out tanks for the fry also... i only have one breeder tank and its a 25G tank. should i go for guppies, swordtails , cons or something else? i currently have a colony of shrimps but their SOOO boring :irked: and they don't have any meat on their bones:(

what if i divided my 20? the con pair is around 1.5'' and they had their first batch of eggs in my main tank. i guess i can get a 10 gallon :P

okay thanks, how long can i leave the babies in with the parents for? i read tht if you move them right away they have a lower death rate

I would go with a heavily planted Swordtails and Platy tank. That's what I used to use and they always kept me loaded with feeders. That or you can buy feeder Platies and quarantine them and take GREAT care of them so you know they will not transmit anything to your Midas.

You have a 25 gallon tank right? I would personally do this just for ease and simplicity. Put a pair of cons into the 25, they will breed and take care of their young. All you need to do is feed them and normal WC's and etc. with keeping any fish. I suggest a heater at 80F, they will grow much faster. With any feeder it will take time for the young to grow, why not get a cichlid (like a Convict) and let them to their thing and take care of their fry and all you have to do is wait for the young to grow a bit and you have feeders for your Midas. Simple as that.

To feed off the juvies, just get a net and scoop some out for the Midas. The con pair will still take care of their young regardless if there's 150 or 25 of their babies left. Once they notice that their babies are being taken away and the fry numbers start to drop they will breed again and so on and so forth.
