Hi just got one more tank. This time a 55 gallon with it was a tetra fs3060 filter... I dont like that I have to keep buying replacement filter all the time. Any suggestions to another filter of cource ac110 immediately came to mind. But alao found fluval c4 power filter online much cheaper. .. but is it any good ? Or other ideas ? Need to keep the cost down a little or I will end under administration by the wife if I keep spending money :p

Quite Frankly Buy blue bonded pads ,cut your own and use biomech and some carbon and you will be fine, I have tried and had ALL the power filters , They all have positives and negatives. Honestly I like the durability of penguin filters and Have lost respect for hagen?fluval as they keep raising there prices and their filters after having them for years are made of cheap flimsy plastic and really do not filter Better than other filters like the Penguins. Not much of a fan of biowheels, but they work and so does hagen BUT after 40 yrs of aquarium keeping my Number one choice is EHEIM Classic canisters, 25 yrs, and never a problem w the six I own. Husbandry and knowledge is the key. IF IT WORKS USE IT, Some swear by the media capability of hagen but why pay exhorbitant prices if reliablity is also had w the marineland or aqueon series , Just my Two cents , Good luck!

nothing wrong with that filter, do the blue bonded pads,,, if you are overstocked add a sponge filter or smaller hob:) my theory: FILTERS Either work or they don't, some are good with sand (Aqueon) ,SOME ARE LOUD, but you can customize the media in almost any hob to handle a large bio-load,, some "experts" will tell you canisters are "better" because the hold more media ,, personally I FIND CANISTERS A PAIN IN THE REAR,,, hard to clean and easy to break......IMO YOU CAN GET A BETTER$ FOR $ deal on hob's (especially the cheap ones, like tetra)

There is a reason the "ac110 immediately came to mind"

Gotta say,for the money, ease of use,and flexability, i would have to say Ac110.
