Best filter for a 200g thats mildly overstocked?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i would not see why not .. as long as its set up well .. get the most bio you can out of it and it should work great .. mixed with a Fx5 you would have plenty of bio .. and mech imo ..

as far as the heaters go .. i dont know if it would be better to have more smaller heaters .. or 2 or 3 bigger heaters .. i would find out from someone who has a tank that size .. mine is only 150 .. i have a Fx5 and a Rena 3 on my tank .. Fx5 is 100% bio rings .. Rena 3 is more for mech but also has bio rings ..

imo sizing heaters is relevant to the ambient tempeture of the room the tank is in. also the tempature you are trying to maintain. 2x 250w ebo's should do it.

On my 200g I run Stealth heaters - I had 2 x 250w and a 200w for a long time. Recently the 200w died without me knowing and this alone caused the tank tank to drop a few degrees. So 500w is not enough but I am heating it to 10° over room temperatures. I added a spare 75w I had (also a Stealth) and this was enough to bring it back up to the temp I wanted it at. So for me 500w is not quite enough but anything over does the trick. I went ahead and ordered a 300w to replace the 75w though.

I have a quiet one 3000 pump on the tank with a 50g sump for filtration. It's got tons of media in it. Along with a power head and a couple of sponge filters.

I was thinking 2 FX5s. It does a total of 1200gph. for two of them. Maybe something a little less?

Which and how many heaters for a 200g?

depends what you are stocking?

I take it this is for your future set up?
