i have two fluval 305 filters one contains just bio max and the other i have bio max and carbon and amonia remover. the tank houses my arowana. i was just wondering if anyone uses other types of media which are better. thanx

do you have any sponge filters? They do the mechanical and some bio. Most people as far as I know don't waste the space with carbon and find regular water changes much better. Some floss padds work great also to really clear up the water. What size tank?

its a 5x2x2 atm whilst im building my 8x4x2. yeah they both have the normal foan and some small triangle bits in. i do very frequent water changes so i mak do away with carbon and ammonia remover now thanx

yeah, ditch the carbon & ammonia remover, you can replace with ceramic rings, which IMO work better in canisters than scrubbies, biomax is fine since you alreay have it. just make sure you have a foam or sponge in there somehwere

Ya im tryn to convert my brother over to regular water changes but he uses carbon and ammonia remover and does a WC about twice a year LOL. Your arow will be very happy with a 50% weekly and the space used for bio would be good. I have heard alot of good things about the EHEIM EHFISUBSTRAT PRO as well

I like the Eheim media I think it's is as good as it gets for canister media. I'm not a fan of Eheim canister filters I think their underpowered, but I have no problem using their media in most of my cans.
