I have been having problems with my water from the house and i am looking for some type of filter to attach to a garden hose that will clean the water. The water doesnt have a problem with nitrates or chlorine, it is something that wont show up in any of the test i have done. We are surrounded by farm fields and a swamp is about a mile down the road. I have been using a pur 3 stage faucet filter but it is very slow and i dont believe it is doing what all i need. I have thought about reverse osmosis but that is even slower and i have a 125g and 100g tanks. i woundering if you guys have any suggestions. I have also been priming the water.

Without knowing what's "wrong" with the water it's hard to know what to suggest to "clean" it...

Is it well water or city water?

If it's city water you should be able to contact the local water department for details...

Although since your describing the local landscape I'm assuming it's well water. If that's the case i would assume you could take a sample to a local store that supplies well water cleaning/filtering products and they could test it for you...

ya we are well water but it has to be something agricultural and all they could suggestion was a reverse osmosis system that they would have to install.

the trick to RO water is to have a storage tank/tub/barrel for it to fill insted of trying to do a water change using the water straight from the unit..
big rubbermaid tubs plumbed together with a float switch would be the cheapest...
1 or 2 of those blue rubber barrels would be the best.. since you live in michigan you might want to pick up a heater/s and a small pump to keep the water moving for the colder months.. then again durring winter it might not be such an issue and you may be able to go back to tap water..
