looking for a good filter that wil last a long time for a 100 gallon amazon community tank with a few angels some cats tetras nothing big and a few plants what would be the best filter i could buy right now i have 2 fluval 404's on it or something like that and they suck any suggestions will be appreciated

I would put the 404's on another tank and upgrade to 1 FX5 and forget about it :-) it would actually be a bit overkill but I always try to use more filtration then I need ... you will just need a guard on the FX5's input so the tetras won't "disappear" and I would make a spray bar for the out put side and your good to go

i am throwing away those 404 i hate them unless someone around me wants tthem and i will look into getting a FX5

I agree, i'd go with a single FX5.. That way if you ever decide to go away with the comm fish you'll still have enough filtration for bigger fish.. I'd always keep the 404's though.. If for some reason a FX5 or whatever craps out you always need an extra filter crappy or not.. Just my 2 cents.

completly agree with hblue and cakilla.i have a FX5 on a 75gal and works great.little off topic but have a eheim 2260 on a 75gal with DIY intake and return on my wifes goldfish tank and works great also.

Fx5 like stated. I just got one for my 125 and the water is crystal clear

Pros - Turnover rate, customization.
Cons - Don't really know. :D
