We all have our likes and dislikes when it comes to what we feed our babies! Lets collaborate and make this thread for someone looking for the best Central and South American fish food, so they can get a more than just reading the label or that foods site! No arguments here ladies and gents, just hobbyist helping others!

What's your favorite feed and what benefits should your fish get from it?

Why are bought feeders the worst possible food you can feed your fish?

What brands make the best and why?

Here's Big Rigs stamp of approval for Krill and YFS Carni~Sticks!

There's a search function for a reason. This has been covered time and again.

This exact post has been done before? Not just asking who's food they think is great but also about feeding regimens and what improvements they've noticed in their fish and water quality. But hey if you do not approve or not like it, just go to the next post and see if you like that one. I also had it in media because I'd asked for people to post a pic of the fish and what they eat!

Ill contribute here my man!

-NLS (38% protein) main staple for all of my fish for health purposes/ initial growth and color enhancement +
I add probiotics to all my tanks for health purposes

Then its a mixture/variety feed of,
-HBH Spirulina for color
-YFS carnivore sticks as a substitute for massivore with its much better ingredients list
-And of course, YFS fzd krill for the occasional power feeding and substitute for live food so no risk for parasites.

Seems like a lot of us like YFS ;)

With the krill, I have to be careful cause as much as I enjoy feeding it, eventually that becomes all my fish will want to eat!
Believe it or not tho, I have been feeding it to my umbee once a day! I make sure its at the end of the night after he has ate his nutritious diet. Then its back to his staple in the morning.
Otherwise, ya a few times a week is perfect to not get a fish used to it :) For my younger fish, I just like to powerfeed them naturally!!!!

Awesome awesome! I feed just about the same except I add krill every day until they get to the around about 12-13 mark then it's every other day. YFS carnisticks and cichlid cravers mixed with nls is my staples.

My staple diet well actually i exclusively feed NLS thera+a its 38% protein and has that extra added garlic . For me i like that my fish's color and health is greatly improved i like that the ingredients are top notch and my fish go crazy over it i feed it to all my fish it might be a lil bit expensive but to me its worth it . I do think though i want to add some krill into his diet just as a treat i measured my beast of a fish last night and he is a solid 11 inches and a pretty heavy fish at least 3 pounds . I will add a comparison pic the first pic is of my fish when i bought him in November they were feeding him grand sumo and this was him in march 2013

ive been feeding my 7 inch jag nls large fish formula and hikari gold with the occasional dozen feeder minnows(he eats the whole dozen.) and crickets from time to time he went from 1 inch to 7 in 6 months. i just started giving him raw shrimp chunks a few days ago and his coloration is off the charts the way i see it. i really suggest throwing in raw shrimp from time to time. (his gold is brighter in person)View attachment 943522View attachment 943523
