I'm just starting up a new 55G and trying to decide what to stock it with. I like the GT's but am unsure if 55G is big enough for 1 GT.

Will 1GT be okay in a 55G?

If so, could I put any other fish in there with it? Maybe some silver dollars?

Any other suggestion for a 55G tank? I like anything but african cichlids.

Open to all suggestions! Thanks.

For my 55 I have in it Jewel and Firemouth cichlids. They do well, and the Jewels are just spectacular when in full color.

It may be ok for 1 GT but not much else. Remember GTs can get up to 12" long. That may be a little tight, I have 2 in a 75 and they are getting ready to go into a 240. They really love to swim laps around the tank.

A single GT will be fine, but the silver dollars will get to big and have to high of a bioload to have any amount of them in the tank. Giant Danios might be a better choice. GT's are iffy about tankmates, you could always try a bottom feeder.
