I want to cycle my tank with fish or inverts that I can feed my motoros once I move them over. I will be using "Prime" to remove chlorine and a big als cycler to help cycle it.
Ooh I will also be using the media from a WELL established 36gallon.

How long should it take with the fish that will be mentioned?

Thanks

Mike

I would order some Turbostart (I've used it, and it worked beautifully for me) or Biospira (Nic swears by it, and he seems to know a fair bit about stingrays and aquariums in general) and add that to the tank. It can take a couple of days, but that is way better than waiting for the entire cycling process IMO.

I made a thread for my experience with Turbostart: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=186877

Good luck!

The amount of bacteria used on a 36 gallon tank wont be enough bacteria to instant cycle a 110g tank. What kind of filter is on the 36g? I would forget the bigals cycler, most products that claim to be "instant cyclers" don't work unless there refrigerated. I've had luck with a product called biospira-it is pricey though. You say that you want to use fish that you can feed to the motoros to cycle the tank-whatever you do don't use feeders because they are probably filled with disease and not strong enough to handle a cycle. I would agree with bruce and say that zebra danios are pretty hardy. I would add like 25 of them. Between the biospira, filter media and zebra danios I would say that the cycle would take about 2 weeks.

and 2 that after you add the rays i would add another packet of bio spira 3 hours after you add the rays to prevent ammonia spikes.... 3 90 gallon packets of bio spira will be cheaper than the turbo start stuff and id rather have live bacteria for that kind of money.... seachem stability is a great product as well to dose the tank with every now and then...

Just wanted to put it out there that Turbostart is refridgerated, live bacteria. Not that it is or isn't better than Biospira; I've never used it, although I hear tell that it is some good stuff.
