Best fitltration for an active community 55 gallon?

I have a fluval U4 and would like to know if that would be enough for a 55 gallon with around 25 peaceful medium-sized fish/

My water quality rn is ammonia-0.10 ph-7 nitrite 0 nitrate- 20ppm

with that many medium size fish in a 55 gallon maybe a canister filter would be more efficient I have a 58 gallon tank with about 20 small tetras in it and I have a fluval 306 canister filter on it you ammonia should be 0 ppm so may be you need a bigger filter I had a u4 that came with a fluval 120 but I got fed up taking it out of the tank to clean it. Canister filters cost a bit more money but I think they are better but it depends on how much you want to spend on a canister filter there are some cheap ones about.
