I have a chocolate cichlid in a 60 gallon all by himself. After some research I have found out that they like floating plants. Any suggestions? I dont want something thats going to take over the whole tank and something easy to take care of. Also, I have read that peacocks are relatively peaceful cichlids as well, would a male peacock be a good tank mate for my chocolate ?

you can never go wrong with watersprite. By peacock, I'm assuming you mean the african cichlid. Most people generally don't like mixing CA/SA cichlids with african cichlids since they require different pH and diets.
