I have 2 oscars and a Jack Dempsey and I am looking for the best quality food to get them. Currently I am feeding them Tetra Cichlid Jumbo Sticks and sometimes some pellets. But those foods make my JD's color much lighter. Like when they get stressed out. I preety sure hes not stressed because this only happens when he eats and like 2 hours after he eats. My oscars are fine with it. The only thing that doesnt make his color change is flakes and live foods. So if you could give me some suggestions that would be great, Thanks!

Tetra is basically junk food with fillers and starch, NLS and omega one have great products. Just don't overfeed, NLS is very dense.

There are like 500 threads about this already...

NLS.

I'd argue that a bunch of factors, not least of which is water quality, have a much larger impact on the color and behavior of your fish than which pellet that you feed.

There are plenty of quality pellets on the market. I use NLS, Xtreme and a couple of Kensfish varieties.

In my experience, it takes a matter of a couple of weeks (at least) to see coloration changes as a result of food.

I use Omega one and Hikari. My fish love them.
