Hi everyone!!! I have noticed for a while that Rocky prefers Bloodworm's over pellet's. How do I get him to eat more pellet's?

feed less blood worms, they should be a treat once or twice a week, but day in and day out a quality cichlid pellet. may even cut them out for a few weeks till he imprints on just pellets. then feed them again as a treat.

My JDs preferred sinking pellets, but would only eat after they soaked for a bit and softened up some.

How about Hikari Vibra Bites? It's a prepared food that looks like bloodworms. I have a ~3" JD who's still in quarantine... he doesn't like NLS pellets but he loves the Vibra Bites and spirulina flakes.

Thank you so much. I will look into those!!!

I think if you hold off and maybe feed once a day you can get it eating pellets no problem. Just a bit each day and see if he eats, probably will, never seen a JD that had a problem with pellets. Pretty easy fish to get to eat whatever.

In nature they are omnivores and end up getting about half their diet in the form of the abundant algae, and fallen leaf littler, so a good quality pellet laced with Spirulina would be my choice.
