hmmm. I remember this coming up before and being somewhat suspicious. That youtube channel owner has/had all kinds of hybrids & fish fighting videos on his channel and is basically, judging by his answers to comments and his fighting videos and descriptions of them, a moron. He had gotten busted by commenters for things he had posted and all the lines of fish he crossed to get certain ones...there was a big to do about that particular fish either here or at "the other fish site", I dont remember which, but I dont think its what he claims it is.

looks like a dovii to me too. the owner does seem a little confused about "his breeding program" but the dovii is still the SH*T

I beleive him and Fishlaw1 are friends. Both are tools and needless to say they see,m to mix up their fish with their pitt bull kennels. Look them both up and you'll see what I mean.:screwy:

Yeah, I've seen all of his vids. I think he is strictly breeding for aesthetics without regard for f# or origin and, IMO, there's nothing wrong with that. We, in the fish world, are a bunch of snobs when it comes to that stuff. Domestic animals, plants, etc are bred to bring out favorable traits. Why should it be any different with fish. Think, Mendelian genetics applied to fish.
I can't speak on the character of the owner of that fish, but I can say that at some point, whether we like it or not, we are going to have to stop bringing wild fish into the hobby and at that point, breeding dovii for aggression and color, or festae for early maturation, etc, etc, will be the best way to preserve the best of the species that we love to keep.

Oh I agree, a fish doesen't have to be an F# to enjoy. Unfortunantly with Midas/RD's you can't just go to any LFS and get a pure one which is why you have to go through special breeders for them. Dovii's are different. My only problem is the way they treat and refer to their fish. In some ones they are really good to their fish, in others.....ignorance is an understatement.
