I am thinking that it would be nice to have some sort of low carpeting/covering plant in my 90. The problem is I have this huge male convict who loves to go around nipping plants for no logical reason and spitting sand all over to make nests that he never uses. He is the only fish in there that does that. This fat turd managed to destroy my whole little design thing just hours after I slaved all day unburying pebbles from the last time he and the female had fry.... UGH.
Basically I need something that can grow fairly quickly that can spread a lot of runners all over the whole tank and to places where he doesn't nest (he stays in the back of the tank to dig/guard the fry mostly). I have high lighting, basic ferts, co2, basically everything for like intermediate care level plants. I haven't tried any ground cover plants before. It needs to be able to survive being munched and possibly buried. Are there any with deep roots? My sand is like 2" thick in most of the tank except where he digs and then SPITS IT ALL OUT IN ONE GIANT PILE ON TOP OF MY CRAP. Ugh I hate him. That smug SOB is gunna go straight in the frying pan one of these days, I swear to god...
The current plants in there now are some type of hygro I forgot the name of, java ferns (which he wrecked pretty bad but they are growing back), bacopa, hornwort, anacharis, brown crypts, vals, and anubias. They seem pretty tough even with his constant destruction.
Thanks!
