Best heater location?

Whats the best spot in tank to put the heater?

If you are running a sump, I'd put it there. If not, I would either put it by a filter intake or middle of the tank.

You never want to put a heater horizontal because a fish can lay on top of it and get burnt.

I have mine horizontally just below my 20% water change mark so I don't have to worry or mess with it during water changes

Tank is 4ft. At moment heater is where the filter comes back into the tank, but temp is still only 22deg cel, heater is set to 26.

Thinking i may need another heater?

I keep mine right by the input for my canister. That way the warm water gets spread thru the tank quicker
