im looking for a heater for my 102 gallon tank what should i get that will heat that tank (brand, watts)

any one

There's been a lot of "best heater" threads in the last couple months, so that may be why people aren't responding. I would go for a 300 watt titanium heater, but that's me.

im not talking in general but what size should i get that would heat my tank

3 watts per gallon is the rule that sticks in my mind. I also gauge this against the average temperature of the room I am going to keep it in. Water is a great thermal mass that tends to absorb heat from a room that is warmer than the water and radiates heat to a room that is colder, so if the room is significantly colder than desired water temp. you might need more watts per gallon or it could be the other way around. I don't have a preferred brand, but I do prefer inline heaters. Keeps clutter out of the tank and if using glass heaters the fish wont break it.

it depends on how many degrees above ambient temp you need to heat the tank. I would go with a 250-300watt titanium. Most titanium heaters will work, the controller is more important brand wise than the heating element. In my personal experience i would stay away from finnex as the one I bought broke within a few months. I now have a Ranco controller which is awesome. It all depends on how much you wanna spend but a heater is def not a area you want to skimp on

yes 3 watt per gallon, however without 3 300 watt running on my piranha tank, i cant get it over 78. but they are in my 60 degree basement. all depends on how much you need to heat it and how insulated it is ( for example plywood and acrylic are both better than glass for insulation)

i looked at the ebo jager 250 and i cant really find any titanium heaters any good site that i could fins one
