I was wondering what would be the best type of heater for a 300 gallon acrylic tank. I've asked my LFS and a few other folks, but figured someone on MFK would be able to give me a better idea, as none of them have had anything larger than 125 gallons.
Thanks for any info!

Run an in line heater in the 300-500 watt range but a lot depends on the ambiant temperiture of the room. (I personally like the rainbow lifeguard set up because it's easy to plumb and maintain. ) If you keep the ROOM close to the target temperiture then you need far less watts of heating.

Room temp is the key. I have a 450g that needs no heater in the summer and only a 300w in the winter. It normally stays 85+. I bought two 800w heaters for it.. lol.. I keep one of them in there just in case, but it never comes on.

I would get 2 250s or 300s. You can get bigger if you want really high heats and have to battle ambient temps.

I use submersed pumps and double up heaters in my sumps. The heat generated by the pumps keeps the heat over the ambient temp and is constant, the smaller heaters do the rest.

I have 2 300w inlines on my 240 and they keep it at a constant 80 degrees. Room temp is 70 in the winter and 75 in the summer.
What type of filtration are you running on that 300?
