Ok... I'm a fan of powerfilters. Are there any BIG powerfilters (hob) out there that could be used to filter say a 240 or 300? Obviously 4 or more Aquaclears might squeak past...but are there any less known manufacturers that make awesome powerfilters?
same... i have 2 on my 75 and they are keeping up for now... powerfilters are great but they have their logical limits... im sure you could put like 12 of them on yer 300.. but the cost alone would match the cost of the tank..
IMO you would be better off just building a sump.. theres about a million threads with differnt ways of doing this as well as about a million threads about pumps...
for a 300 gallon you'll need a few really big H.O.B. and it'll just ruin the look of your tank. the cost of the filters would be a lot as well. you should build your own sump. you'll need a 40 gallon long tank w/ acrylic sheets, silicon glue, a pump, and plumbing parts. minus the tank and pump all else are available in home depot or lowes. you'll also need to drill a hole in your tank for an overflow but i would have a professional do that. look on here or youtube for D.I.Y. sumps. also, you can always ask your LFS for help on sumps. not petsmart or petco though.
You could actually build your own HOB if, for some reason, you can't put a sump under the tank. Shouldn't be too hard; an HOB is basically just a lateral version of a sump. You could also build an in-tank filter chamber if external space is limited.
