Best Internal Power Filter for mechanical.

Hi,

I have been thinking to get an internal power filter specifically for mechanical.

I looked at Eheim Aquaball, but the strongest one they have is only 650l/h.

My favorite, cheap, internal is this Sunsun http://www.amazon.com/SunSun-JP-025...838339&sr=8-39&keywords=internal+power+filter

Really pushes some water, and for 20 bucks! Easy to clean, no problems with them. Also came across this while looking for the filters I've purchased http://www.amazon.com/SunSun-JP-085...838339&sr=8-40&keywords=internal+power+filter pretty cool 800+gph for an internal

I have no experience with the filters you posted but have nothing but good things to say about the first one I posted.
 
Just checked out the filters you posted. I'd rule out the fluval. No need for bio/chem media for mech filtration, especially at that price. All you want in yours is a decent sized compartment with a big coarse sponge. The otto looks like it's 3 compartments, I wouldn't want to bother snapping that many pieces together. The first link I posted has two compartments, snaps together readily. About a minute or so to clean it. I'd get it over anything you posted but I like the last one you posted the best out of the three. Aquatop also makes decent internals (I think aquatop/sunsun are affiliated). They have a much more gentle flow. The cheap sunsun I posted is more like a nice powerhead with 2 sponge chambers snapped on. Works great.

Fluval U4 is good but the sponge clog really damn quick, also the holding bracket is too slimsy and will easy loose and won't hold the filter in place overtime. Oh, everytime you stop the filter to maintenance it will release debris back into your tank.
 
I know this isn't a power filter. But you can't beat the ease of maintenance and price....

This is going to sound crazy, but a large box filter full of filter floss with a good sized air pump will do wonders for polishing the water of fine particles. Im not sure what size your tank is or what kind of fish you keep, but I had excellent results (to my surprise) using them on smaller tanks. They filtered out fine particles the HOB's wouldn't catch.

Not too good for big waste however.

thanks ill take a look at sunsun, and the otto ones i have heard that the impellars start to grind after a while.

I have an eheim 2262 running, i know it is a strong filter for a 300L tank, but my fish create a mess after eating, so i litterally need something that is going to mechanically filter the tank quickly.
 
Aquaball can add unlimited add on kits. That's one reason I like them against the competition. you can build it to suit your filtering needs by stacking different density foams, carbon blocks, solid media etc.

I have a ton of add on kits if you end up getting an Aquaball or for any one else that already has one and wants an upgrade kit I purchased an entire case of these when they first came out.
