I'm planning to take a trip to Chicago this weekend, and I would love to get some great fish while I'm there. I'm looking for freshwater fish. To be specific, I'm looking for Crenicichla, Catfish, Pickerel, other native North American fish, or really anything that catches my eye. Where is the best LFS around that area? I know alot of them specialize in saltwater, but thats not what I'm looking for. I want a large variety of freshwater fish hopefully with some rare finds. Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated.

Animal Island in Midlothian (south suburb), its on cicero ave about 2 miles south of 294. Looks like a dump but has great selection and quality. Almost always have crenicichla, rtc, and florida gar.

Sweet. Thanks for the info. Have you had any experience at old town aquarium? I've seen good reviews for that too.

I've only been there once about 10 years ago and dont remember too much. I want to say its more of a saltwater shop with some fresh.

Try the classifieds on the GCCA website. There are some really good local breeders in that area.

Great suggestion, I've gotten many great fish through the classifieds and swap meets.
