In your opinion what is the best fish store in Southern California?

Size, Selection, Health, Quality.

For size and selection i would go with Global Aquatics in Ontario. Located next to the airport. Fish warehouse with a decent selection but the fish sometimes look a bit beat up or unhealthy.

For health and quality i would go with Jan's in Montclair. Located next to the mall. Has very healthy good quality fish but a small selection.

The reason i am asking is because a lot of stores i have been to have the same 2in jd,rd, o, gt, parrots, and common fish you see everywhere. I'd be interested in picking up a trimac or red terror or anything a bit less common but no matter how man ystores i go to it seems i see the same 10 or so cichlids.

Aquarium City in Canoga Park is awesome. Only LFS I've ever seen with a 300G Planted CO2 Amazonian Tank. Among others. They know what they are doing and have a huge selection. Most of my fish are from there. They also can get some pretty cool stuff. Like RTCxTSN's and Kelberi :D

Exotic Life on Topanga Canyon is pretty sweet too. Not as big a selection as Aquarium City but still much bigger than most hole-in-the-wall LFS's. They have a 860G Acrylic with some awesome CA/SA Cichlids (Dovii!), Dats, and some other stuff (definetly not a pair of Florida Gar ;):naughty:) as the main Display tank and a 300G Deep full of all sorts of Tetras and stuff and a huge FRT :). The owner is very knowledgable and knows more about non-Mbuna Africans then anyone else I have met. They also have a nice reptile section.

You can also get (catch) some cool Cichlids and other Exotics out of Balboa Lake

If you want festae then hit up Umbeeking, he's in riverside, I dunno how far that is for u but definitely the real deal

Very good idea.... i seen someone selling festae fry in riverside a few months back but wasnt in the position to buy them then. probably was him. riverside is like 15 minutes from my house.... local.

now i just have to find him on here... lmao

Plants- Nature Aquarium in Santa Monica has a good selection (Stock is mainly Aquarium Plant friendly)

Freshwater- Jims Exotic Fish They take care of their fish pretty good compared to most places ive been

Best hole in the wall is a tie....
Tokyo Aquarium and Toms Tropical Fish

Best SoCal Vendors.... (in no order) Infinate Aquatics, All Happy, Fugupuff and Charlie n the Factory is surely getting there :D (all JMO)

+ 1 for Exotic Life in chatsworth, I've been a long time lurker here on MFK, but I'm posting to vouch for them, great people that run that LFS, really know what their doing.

Also +1 on balboa lake, i caught a pretty nice green terror out of there on a piece of hot dog:ROFL:

UmbeeKing's computer may still be down, but he does check from other sources from time to time, just be patient and I do know that he does have some and is wanting to re-post another sale thread when his computer gets fixed:)
