Well, a good standby for regular old amazon swords is medium to high light range. Of course, the higher the light, the quicker they CAN grow (that is, if they have enough nutrients). They are pretty heavy feeders, so in general it is a good idea to fertilize if you have high lights. Mine grow well in med/hi light (3.0 WPG if you believe in the WPG train of thought).
I leave the lights on for 11 hours a day. I think that this is fine for my purposes, but they probably do best if they are in a natural photoperiod, i.e. 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark. I do know that any more than 14 hours of light in a day is just wasting electricity, since swords and most other plants need a period of rest just like any other living thing.
