Best light for RBPs

Hey guys, I have an ordinary stock light for my nattereris. But when I turned it on, they just go to the dark side of the tank and do not move. Now, when I turn it off, my babies go flying all over the tank. Therefore, i like to do what my fishes like and keep it off but I would like to have it on at times (usually at night). I was thinking what type of light is the best for them to feel comfortable to swim around. Please let me know what light that is, and what type of lights you guys use for yours. I have not yet completed my tank with all my purchased wood and plants therefore can't blame fully on the lights but would want something that will augment the comfort for my babies. thanks in advance. OH also would be nice to pics of your lighted tanks !

U need dw and plants that will provide shade and cover. You can put electrical tape around the lite to dim it down or use blackwater extract. This will help make them less skittish along with cooler temps

My lfs has black water extract which I am going to get ASAP. Black tape.. Great idea.. Btw the light only lights up 1/3 of tank. lOL super small light!!

Microblift amazon bio colorant is what I use, the one in the link, it is so concentrated that a small bottle is enough for 1000 gals. It's awesome, tetra brand blows and u need a bottle every wc and api doesn't make the color different lol...

Anything to make those pygos lose focus on eachother even for a minute lol. It will be interesting to see how many u lose to cannibalism, most ppl that start with 10 end up with about 7!


Dw, plants, low lite, Bw, low temps and adequate space plus good varied diet and clean water is all we can do.

That's why I got 11. Plus I convinced my girl that I need a bigger tank like a 200g. Even she can tell the fishes need more space >.>

Tell her she can use the 80gal for whatever kinds of dish she wants then I bet u can upgrade
