I have a standard 180 and want to put lights in there that would be able to grow plants. What's the best?
halide or t5, maybe high pressure sodium

HO t5 is what i'm getting on my 120. then i'll get some jungle or italian val, amazon swords, and some floaters. $175 for 3' lenths.

All depends on what type of plants you will be keeping. Some plants require more light than others. 2 watts per gallon is a good rule of thumb.

So please make a recommendation for what lighting system(brand name and approx. costs) that would be best for a 180 gallon tank. I'm looking for really good quality lights that would produce the best light and plant growth (swords). Let me know. Thanks

How does the lighting system come? Is it 2 36inch fixtures that cover the whole 72inches? Sorry for such a dumb question but i've never looked into this type of lighting. thanks

all depends on what you are ordering. it will tell you how many bulbs are in each fixture. with a 180 get the 4 bulb system. that way you are sure you have enough light to reach the bottom of the tank.
