I'm planning to try to feed 1 of my arowanas mainly feeder fish,
Assuming the feeders are 1005 healthy, which fish would be the best for the arowanas growth and health? My current feeders are mollies and i like to use them as feeders compared to goldfish, any other fish which will be good feedeers? nutrition wise which would be best?

Home bred guppies that are fed with the nutrional diet of another fish in mind.

But why do you want to keep your arowana on live food? There is always the risk of parasites, and it is easy to convert arowana onto non-live.

when i got my arrow i thought i had to feed him guppies every day i just frow freez dryed krill small krill

thanks, My arowanas take Market prawns, but i have one which has a small appettite, lately i've been feeding him superworms, but i like to try to change his diet to live feeders , then i'll try to observe growth rate vs those fed with superowmrs and mp. :)

guppies go well because they have a reasonably low fat content compared to other fw feeders
thanks :) So guppies are better than mollies?
problem with guppies is they are smaller, but will also try to raise guppies.

I bought 4 Nile tilapia fry to attempt to grow them into breeding stock for feeder fish. I figure that most of the non-live meat eating fish that I own (and I do always work toward non-live feeding!) love market tilapia fillets. I figure that they should be approaching sexual maturity soon. They have gone from around and inch in January 2010 to now ranging from the smallest 7" and the biggest 11"!

I have read others use convict cichlids as breeding stock for feeders. Now there is an idea, a "feeder" tank stocked with Convicts and Tilapia (Butti's look similar).

I wonder if the cichlid lines are diverse enough NOT to crossbreed. That might be an interesting tank full of pleasure for those who appreciate gratuitous violence!

don't forget to feed crayfish and shrimp. crickets could help too
