I have an 85gl. Hex tank that I need to make a top frame for. I tried to find a factory made frame but it looks like there not in production any more. I was afraid to make it out of wood because I just can't see it lasting long enough. I pondered the composite decking (fake wood) stuff but strength seems to be an issue.
What do you all suggest?

Thanks.
Joel

High grade stainless steel, thick pieces of aluminum, or wood. They will all work.

I have seen hemp rope used too on large glass DIY tanks as the primary support. After creating a support winding around the perimeter, the rope gets lacquered in place. It actually turns out pretty good looking and of course its fully functional as well.
