Have a Hardy fish that has some new HITH showing (He already had several holes in his head but it is spreading).

I keep up with my water and change it every 4days (takeout 150glns+ a waterchange) and clean out my Filter/Sump (With Wet/Dry Vac) every 2-3 months. No one else in the tank has any problems except this dude.

Whats the best Med for him as Im ganna set up a 30gl Q-tank to try to treat him.

Is liquid or tablets Meds better?

Thanks

Salt and water changes and vary the food.....melafix and pimafix if need.

H2o changes and Salt I have always done:D

I think it might have been the food......Only Market Shrimp with previous Owner and for the last 3 months with me. Now feeding Pellets, Scallops, Tilapia, beefheart, crickets and blood worms

Just curious.... about how long should it take to heal up If I caught it semi early??

HITH can take a while to heal... don't expect results over night. mine caught a little case of it and it's still healing. i agree with haynchinook334... clean water is definetly a must along with lots of variety.

Alright thanks. I have very good water quality but didnt mix the foods. I am now.

Thanks, I guess Ill just put him in a Q-tank for about 1 month with the Meds/Salt then add him back to the 300 with plenty of foods:D

Gracias:headbang2

Good luck with it and keep up the changes

Melafix and primafix are great meds

I think that stress has a lot to do with HITH as well, I don't have anything to go off of other than the experience I've had with oscars. If it's a low stress/good environment it seems to heal more quickly.

Obviously clean water and a good diet are a direct reflection of that.

Thanks guys. Ganna try to hook-em up:D

Clean water and nutritious diet. Stress is a culprit also. You should need no meds especially when it is that minor.
I picked up a couple of very nice C. Lenticulata in July with one of them having two minor HITH spots. It was caused from the stress of the other fish in previous owners tank.
Since I picked them up the spots have started reversing (slowly) and seem to be disapearing.
